Under Millstone's municipal code, every single-family and multi-family residential household is required to enter into a private contract for regular solid waste collection. Residents who prefer not to use a hauling service must provide proof to the Township Committee at least once every 12 months that they are personally transporting their waste to an authorized disposal facility.
Republic Services began collection in 2020. Initially, there were complaints about missed pickups and communication, but service stabilized. The township continues to manage the contract, and the program remains in place as of 2025.
