Sexual orientation (who you love) and gender identity (who you are) are two different concepts. A gay man might face discrimination based on who he dates; a trans woman often faces discrimination simply for existing in public spaces. While the L, G, and B fight for the right to love freely, the T often fights for the right to be freely.
