Lab Fitgirl [better] - Capitalism

Superficially, FitGirl appears communist: from each according to ability (her compression skill), to each according to need (the game). But deeper analysis suggests :

FitGirl repacks strip away the commodity form. No box art, no Steam achievements, no storefront. What remains is the pure use-value : the executable. This is the ultimate Marxian realization—the game as thing , not as commodity . However, the distribution method (torrent swarms) mimics high-frequency trading: packets race to complete, and the fastest seeds (richest bandwidth) dominate. capitalism lab fitgirl

This paper is a thought experiment. No actual FitGirls were harmed in its writing. What remains is the pure use-value : the executable

This paper asks:

For a repack to live, thousands of anonymous users must seed (upload) after downloading. This is unpaid, essential labor. Unlike Uber drivers (algorithmic management), seeders are self-organized via peer-to-peer protocol. Yet they reproduce the logic of capital: they sacrifice their bandwidth (a commodity) to maintain the network’s value. The community runs on reputation capital (ratio requirements on private trackers). This paper is a thought experiment
