Changing Keyboard Language

Even with the correct settings, keyboard language issues can arise.

What you need to understand is the difference between your (the menu and dialog text) and your keyboard input language (the character produced when you press a key). This article focuses on the latter. Changing your keyboard layout allows you to type things like "¿Cómo estás?" or "Straße" without memorizing cryptic Alt codes.

Check the "Show keyboard and emoji viewers in menu bar." This lets you open a virtual keyboard on-screen to see exactly which physical keys map to which characters in your new layout.
