If you blocked a specific person, you will not see their messages in the group, and they won’t see yours.
Snapchat group chats are unique. You cannot block a whole group; if you don't want to see it, you must leave the group. However, you can block specific members.
Messenger uses "Restricted" and "Archived" modes which can make a group "disappear" without technically being blocked.
