The central conflict of the poem is the soul’s excessive virtue. Đurđević employs a bold theological-logical twist: the soul did not die because of sin or malice, but because of its own unbearable sweetness. The poet argues that the fragile “walls” of the human body (the ribs, the flesh) could not withstand the “sweetness” pressing from within. This inverts the traditional elegy.
