Here is where most beginners get tripped up. You cannot simply put a PS3 disc into a standard PC Blu-ray drive.
Accessing the internal file structure allows modders to swap textures, edit audio, or apply fan translations.
If you extracted files simply by copying them from the disc in Windows Explorer, the dump will not work. The PS3 file system uses encryption that Windows cannot read natively. You use a dedicated dumper tool to decrypt the data during the transfer.
If you have previously backed up your games as ISO files using custom firmware (CFW) tools like Multiman or WebMAN, you might need to extract the contents to use them with an emulator or to compress them.
