However, as production demands increase in complexity and file sizes grow, the reliance on web browsers and intermediator plugins introduces friction. This paper proposes the development and release of the Splice Desktop App : a native application designed to decouple the sampling workflow from the web browser, reduce CPU overhead, and provide a dedicated, distraction-free environment for sound selection and management. 1. The Problem: Browser-Based Bottlenecks The modern Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) environment is resource-intensive. Currently, the Splice workflow relies on a Bridge plugin or browser integration to audition and import sounds. This presents three critical inefficiencies:
