This paper outlines the procedures for modifying the default behavior of the function keys (F1–F12) on Dell laptop computers. Dell laptops are shipped with a default configuration that prioritizes "Multimedia Keys" (volume, brightness, media control) over standard F1–F12 functionality. This document details two primary methods for reversing this behavior: the operating system-based solution via the Windows Mobility Center and the hardware-level solution via the System BIOS/UEFI.
