By making animation so easy, Flash 8 flooded the web with low-quality content. When YouTube launched in 2005, users began uploading video instead of embedding SWFs. Flash 8 was the peak of interactive vector art, but its own export features (AVI/MOV) cannibalized its ecosystem by feeding the video platform that would eventually render the plugin obsolete.
