To ensure coverage, recipients must visit a chiropractor who is willing to bill the ministry directly or accept the ODSP fee schedule. If a chiropractor does not participate in the direct billing system, the patient may have to pay upfront and seek reimbursement from their local ODSP office. In some instances, particularly if a recipient has reached their maximum coverage or requires treatment for a condition not strictly defined under the benefit guidelines, a recommendation from a physician or nurse practitioner may be required to justify the medical necessity of the care.
