Teredo
Teredo is one of those networking technologies that feels like magic when you first see it work—and a headache when you try to debug it.
In the early 2000s, we realized we were running out of IPv4 addresses. The solution was NAT (Network Address Translation)—your router has one public IP, and your devices have private IPs (like 192.168.x.x ). teredo
Teredo provided a necessary, albeit complex, solution for IPv6 connectivity in the era of pervasive NAT. Its main contribution is demonstrating that UDP encapsulation can successfully traverse NATs for layer-3 protocols. However, due to native IPv6 growth and security liabilities, Teredo is now considered a legacy technology. Network engineers should prefer native IPv6, 6to4 where applicable, or application-layer proxies. Teredo is one of those networking technologies that
