Before he was the titan of Tamil cinema, Vikram was a struggler. Debuting in En Kadhal Kanmani (1990), he spent much of the early 90s playing second fiddle or starring in low-budget films that failed to ignite the box office. Dubbed films (often from Malayalam) kept his career afloat, but recognition remained elusive.
