Mastersizer 3000 -

The instrument measures the intensity of scattered light across an array of detectors. A series of optical models and mathematical inversions (typically using the Mie theory, which requires knowledge of the sample’s real and imaginary refractive indices) then converts the angular scattering pattern into a volume-based particle size distribution, typically reported as Dv10, Dv50, and Dv90.

When a laser beam interacts with particles in a sample, the particles scatter the light. mastersizer 3000
