Today, it’s the forgotten middle child—outshined by the later Survivor trilogy games and the 2018 Tomb Raider reboot. But as a pure time capsule of 2003 (leather pants, nu-metal-adjacent score, post-Matrix wire-fu), it’s a solid, watchable artifact. Not a treasure, but far from a trap-room failure.
A hero is only as good as their villain. While the first film had a generic Illuminati council, Cradle gave us Dr. Jonathan Reiss, played with chilling calm by Ciarán Hinds. Reiss isn't trying to control time or rule the world through magic; he is a bioterrorist and arms dealer. He deals in death and biological weapons.
