Sheldon and Dr. Linkletter (played by Ed Begley Jr.) find themselves stuck while trying to solve a complex physics equation. Their frustration leads Sheldon to consider bringing back Dr. Sturgis (Wallace Shawn) for help, despite Sturgis having left the university to work at a grocery store.
On the day he decides to put his MSV solution into practice, chaos erupts. His calculations were based on variables that didn't account for the dynamic nature of social interactions and the cafeteria's environment. Sheldon ends up sitting in his "optimal" seat, only to find that the actual outcome is far from what he expected. He realizes the limitations of his theory and the unpredictability of real-life events. young sheldon s05e05 msv
