Data centers require low-latency authentication. The iStar’s local decision-making capability ensures that access is granted instantly (< 0.5 seconds), preventing bottlenecks at entry points. The OSDP support allows for the integration of biometric readers with encrypted data streams.

A university campus has 300 doors wired with legacy Wiegand cabling. Replacing the wiring is cost-prohibitive. By installing iStar controllers, the university retains the existing door wiring but connects the controllers to the campus IP network.
