The story follows Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), a humble blacksmith’s apprentice, and Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), a disgraced captain with a knack for getting into trouble. Their paths cross when the port town of Port Royal is attacked by the dreaded Black Pearl, a ship captained by the terrifying Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). Barbossa kidnaps the governor's daughter, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), believing her blood is the key to lifting an ancient Aztec curse that has turned him and his crew into immortal skeletons.

They play the romantic leads with enough wit and physical action to ensure they aren't overshadowed by the eccentric lead.
