Once the water swirls down victoriously, flush the toilet again to ensure the pipes are clear.
Do not flush again. If the water is rising, a second flush won't provide the magical push you hope for; it will only guarantee a floor flood. If the water is dangerously high near the rim, give it 10 minutes. Sometimes, gravity and water pressure work their magic, and the level drops on its own.
