20th Century Fox stepped in to co-produce the third film with Walden Media. Fox attempted to course-correct by reducing the budget and aiming for a more family-friendly tone than the dark Prince Caspian . However, the box office performance was stagnant, and plans for a fourth film ( The Silver Chair ) stalled due to budgetary disagreements and the expiration of the Walden Media rights.
