The original 6-season DVD box sets (2006–2009) simply grouped episodes more aggressively (e.g., Season 1 = Saiyan + Namek, etc.). That format is less common now.

This is the most common way fans identify seasons today, primarily based on the "Orange Brick" DVD and Blu-ray sets released by :

(Episodes 108–139) – Deals with the return of Garlic Jr., the arrival of Future Trunks, and the debut of the Androids.

Dragon Ball Z Kai is a high-definition remaster that cuts out most of the "filler" episodes (content not found in the original manga) to stay truer to Akira Toriyama's original story. As a result, Kai is much shorter.
