List Server Emule Here

This paper provides a comprehensive technical examination of the "list server" infrastructure within the eMule and eDonkey2000 (eD2k) file-sharing networks. It explores the critical role these servers played in decentralized Peer-to-Peer (P2P) communication, specifically focusing on the mechanisms of server discovery, source exchange, and network topology. Furthermore, it analyzes the historical decline of the server-based model in favor of the decentralized Kad network (Kademlia) and discusses the security implications inherent in maintaining static server lists.
