In Windows 11, news is tucked inside the button (typically located on the far left or center of the taskbar). Using Taskbar Settings Right-click on an empty part of the Taskbar . Select Taskbar settings . Under the Taskbar items section, find Widgets . Toggle the switch to Off . The icon will vanish from your taskbar instantly. Removing News but Keeping Widgets
It has been a week. My taskbar remains clean. The "Widgets" service is disabled in the settings menu. I have not checked the fate of the man who fought the goose.
